Treatment at Katy Pediatric Associates

At Katy Pediatric Associates we are prepared to create a customized treatment for your child, based on the types of hives, symptoms, and severity of the affliction.

In some cases, treatment might not be necessary, but in other ones, such as when there is the presence of chronic hives or anaphylaxis, medical attention will be required to avoid serious complications.

Remember that hives may indicate a strong allergic reaction; if left untreated, they have the potential to progress into anaphylaxis.

Symptoms of anaphylaxis

  • Skin reactions, including hives and itching, and flushed or pale skin.
  • Low blood pressure (hypotension)
  • Constriction of the airways and a swollen tongue or throat
  • Nausea, vomiting or diarrhea.
  • Dizziness or fainting.

If your child has signs of anaphylaxis, you need an ambulance right now.  Anaphylaxis needs to be treated right away with an injection of epinephrine. If it isn’t treated right away, it can be deadly.
